Well, we are home! I feel like we don't have our crap together at all, but that is expected for a while, I think. Feeding Sam is extremely painful and quite the task, but we are working hard on it.
Samson is a hungry boy, and he especially likes to eat (pretty much constantly) between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. His favorite activity to do during the daytime hours is sleep. Hopefully we can get that switched around soon.
Last night Dan and I got about an hour of sleep between the two of us. Between Sam's constant feedings and Elijah's croup episode that Dan had to rush to his parents' house to help out with, we were a busy little family in the middle of the night. Yes, Elijah got croup while at Grandma's house and it was scary for all of us. It all turned out ok, though.
We have some more cute photos to share, but getting them on here would require a bit of time, which I don't have today. Maybe tomorrow. Thanks for all of the well wishes and prayers you all have sent our way in the past few days!
p.s. Sorry about the bloody Samson pic that Dan posted a few days ago. Apparently some people were pretty grossed out by it so we took it down. Sorry!

Hang in there, guys! Don't worry...what you're feeling and going through is completely normal. I remember the initial pain of nursing, so I feel for you!!! Hopefully you will be able to wake him every few hours during the day to eat and get on a daytime feeding schedule soon. Those first weeks of no sleep are just brutal, but at least they are temporary:) Don't hesitate to accept help and take one hour at a time...things will get better. God bless you all!
I wish I was there to rock Sam for you and give Elijah breathing treatments...
oh boy...
you guys will find your groove..
and you'll all be rockin' around the house!!
I didn't even notice a gross picture...I suppose it takes a lot to shock me though...
love on those munchkins for me!

So glad that you made it home!! I'm sure that you will get some sleep soon! Praying that Mr. Samson is able to adjust his schedule & you are all able to rest!
I am so glad you are all home, I know how you feel. I wish I could be there to help out and make you dinner. I hope Elijah gets to feeling better real soon. Big Hugs coming your way.
Sorry I did not notice any gross pictures. I have seen it all and been through alot nothing fazes me.
Oh not croup again. :( I'm glad he did well and Dan was able to get over there to help. I'll be praying for some peace to come over your household so you all can rest and enjoy Samson and Elijah.
Oh and I didn't notice any gross pics..guess some people are too sensitive to those things.
I read this update yesterday and didn't have a chance to comment. We were at the Dr. for hours with Evan - who has croup just like Elijah... sigh... long nights and we don't have a new little one. Hope today is a more peaceful day for you guys.
All those pictures you have posted were beautiful and lovely, so don't worry!
Hopefully you and Dan can get some sleep tonight and Elijah is getting better now.
All the best to the Porta family!
Hang in there. Nursing gets easier....faster than it did the first time!
Sam is a cutie...and I wasn't grossed out by the picture. I guess I am immune to things these days.
I hope that Sam gets straightened out soon!!
I thought the picture when he first came out was absolutely FABULOUS! That's why I put 'simply amazing' in my first comment because it shows the very first moment of life and that is AWESOME!
I hope you find your groove soon, I can't even imagine balancing two kids.
I really hope the croup doesn't last for Elijah, don't want him having any bad experience through this change.
