Sammy turns one!

Can you believe our Sammy turned one last weekend?



It seems like just a few weeks ago that we were welcoming him into the world.



He is such an amazing light in our lives. His totally chill attitude and silly faces make us smile all the time. We love him so much.



We invited some friends and family to the dropzone to celebrate his birthday and we enjoyed the nice hot day. Summer birthdays are the best (I would know this).



Sammy got REALLY messy. We weren't exactly prepared for this, as Elijah refused to touch cake until he was three years old. Sammy dug right in!



Sam even enjoyed eating his plate..



..he was full of frosting and cake..



..but cute as could be..



..and messy..



..and naked..



..and ready to be washed off.



The aftermath.



Once he was clean, he enjoyed spending time with friends.



Opening presents and sitting in comfortable laps.



And playing with balls.



And wondering why his big brother doesn't like to share.



And saying goodbye to Daddy.



And playing with family.



Elijah enjoyed the playground with his cousin Emma.



He is getting so good at going down the slide by himself.



And strutting around the dropzone.



Going down the slide on his own is a pretty huge deal!

Sammy is always happy and ready to go in the morning.



By the way, Elijah said to me the other day when we got to the dropzone, "Mom! Let's get the party started!" Hmmmm, what??

We are preparing for the big surgery on Friday. I am strangely feeling more peaceful as time passes. It's funny how that happens. We ask for your prayers for our little man..BOTH of our men...as it it going to be challenging caring for both of them separately.

At Sammy's well visit today he weighed 23 lbs. 7 oz. (60th percentile) and he was 31 inches tall (84th percentile). He got two shots and cried very little. He is a super chill kid!
