Giggles and squeals

Elijah was in a very good mood through the night, but he didn't sleep much. His nurse said that he would sleep for an hour and then be up for an hour watching Veggie Tales and then sleep for an hour and then up for an hour and so on. Lucky boy! I hope he doesn't think he'll be spoiled like this when we get back home! His disposition has been wonderful. He's very happy and giggly and flirty and talkative. I just got him to close his eyes for a little nap. He has been awake since 4am chatting away!

We haven't seen a doctor yet but from what we've heard through the nurses, the fluid around his lung is only VEERRRRYYYY slightly improved today. I really hope that doesn't mean he needs a chest tube, but I guess we'll see. Whatever is best for him!

Dan and I got a nice sleep room last night but we still feel like we've been hit by a truck. We have the room till 10am so we're taking turns with naps. I need to start drinking coffee!

That's about all I know right now. I'll post again once decisions have been made. Hopefully it will be soon.

I'm so glad Elijah seems to be in such a good mood this morning! I will keep praying that the fluid goes away and that you can sneak in some naps.

Okay...is there a Starbucks in the hospital? Both children's hospitals here in Dallas have one...so if there is...this is what you need to do...and reimbursement will follow...but you have to tell me how many you get so I can...go and order this drink for both you and Dan...it is my FAVORITE EVER! Venti Skinny Hazelnut Latte (if you want sugar, skip the skinny). You guys get as many as you want and send me the tab!

I am glad that Elijah is so happy and smiley. His pictures are looking terrific! If he needs the chest tube, he needs the chest tube...it will help him get out of there faster.

I am sure that you will get that cute little man back on his sleep schedule at home...for now, let the nurses enjoy Veggie Tales all night long...that will teach them for bothering the poor baby all the time.

Lots and lots of love and prayers. I am still praying for the fluid to go away and that he will not need the tube, but if he does, he does.

Have a good day and try to get some rest...glad you had a good room last night...you need it!

Love,
Samantha

Prayers for Elijah to pee out the fluid!! Same thing happened to Colin and they put a chest tube in only for a day. Glad to hear that he has been chatty and giggling. That's a great sign! He looks adorable in the pictures.

Hoping that you guys get some sleep!!

Hi Megan and Dan! I just now figured out (I think) how to leave a comment on your blog...sorry it's taken me so long:(

Just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking about you all and praying for Elijah's speedy recovery, as well as your peace and comfort. Elijah is such a precious and amazing little man! He's also very fortunate to have loving parents with such incredible strength (he gets it from you, afterall)!

Love,
Deb Nichols

Samantha just cracks me up!!!
Isn't if funny that the hospitals just DRAIN you....and you can learn to sleep anywhere!!?? I mean..it can be a Monday morning in the surgery waiting room (where it's packed)...and I can now crawl up in a ball(infront of all the strangers) and take a nap! crazy!!

Glad he's up giggling and laughing! That makes my heart happy! I hope the little man doesn't need another chest tube either...but, if he does..tell them to double his versed dose!! I can only imagine how mad that would make him (or do they put them to sleep??)

Keep taking turns with the naps...that's the ONLY way that Joe and I survived!

You know that you can's post TOO many pics...so, we'll be anxiously waiting for the next update!

Love to you all,
Kathy

I am sure it makes you feel so good to see him giggly and not upset. It makes us happy too. Glad to hear you guys got your own room last night. Getting sleep right now is so valuable. I hope everyone gets plenty of healing rest today. We look forward to updates. Sending good thoughts from Kansas City.

Hi Megan,

I am so glad to hear that Elijah's been such a happy boy! It amazes me how quickly they just perk right up after something as major as open heart surgery!!! I am praying that he gets rid of that extra fluid very soon....I know a chest tube would not make him a happy camper at this point! Give him a gentle hug from us....we're thinking of you and Dan and praying for your little man!

Lots of Love,

Wendy (& Emma, too!)

Ahhh - sleep. You just don't get it in the hospital. Try to squeeze some shut eye in when you get a chance!

I am glad to hear that you had a happier boy today! That is wonderful! I am sure that he is finally feeling better.

I am praying for NO chest tube. Come on Eli....pee buddy!!

We love ya'll!
