Birthday party!

We had our awesome family and friends over for Elijah's birthday party today. We were so happy to see cousins and grandmas and grandpas and aunties. Elijah was an unhappy boy, though. He hasn't been himself today. He wasn't his usual smiley self during the party and has needed LOTS of sleep today. To be honest, I'm worried. I think something is going on. His O2 sats are low and he's drinking (a lot) less and he's much less interactive than he normally is and his personality is different, so I'm worried. I'm going to call Dr. G on Monday morning and see what he thinks. We were happy to have our fabulous family over, though. Thank you for driving to our house! We love you all!!!!

Happy Birthday ELI!!!
Sorry to hear you're not feeling so good. You know...why doesn't he look blue if his sats are so low (or can we just not see it in the pics).
Isaac said that you can come over and he'll share his O2 with you (and he said that he would even wear a mask so you don't get his germs!)
Hope the Dr. can get you in or tell you something to put your mind at ease. But...you know it's just part of the whole "heart failure" process...it's time to fix his little heart. Be brave Master Megan! Eli is so CRAZY STRONG...he's going to BREEZE through this surgery!!! If you stop and look at the other heart babies....look how good Eli is doing and he IS satting so low. Normally, these kids can't even eat, they're sweating to death, (even the g-tubers are hard to push food down when they're this close to surgery).
SO...remember that when you think about how Eli's doing. Relatively speaking...he's doing awesome! He's got the chub and his appetite will come back...and He'll totally have the nurses wrapped around his finger because he's so darn cute!!!
Can't wait to hear what the doc says.
We love you guys!
Kathy

Looks like so much fun! The cake was very cute and it was nice you had everyone over to celebrate! Kathy is so wise...I can't add anything to what she said. They wait as long as they can to do surgery so it's a natural progression to get more symptomatic the closer it gets. Mommies are always right, though, so if you sense something is really "off" and it is bothering you, it's a good thing you're going to get him checked. Please update when you get home!!
Take care,
~Cindy

I am so glad to see how he LOVES the cake. You are always right when it comes to Eli...you amaze me all the time how calm you always are when you talk about him. Here you are, a first time mommy, and you just go about this like it is nothing at all. Then, there is me, who is on my third kid and I freak out about every little thing. You are a real inspiration of courage for me (well, you, Kathy & Krista...I have never met three stronger women in my LIFE!)

Hang in there...I am glad you are going with your instincts and getting that baby seen. He is so darn cute I cannot stand it! I may need to make a trip to MN soon (when the weather is warmer :))

I am glad that you got his gift. I love that shirt...Micah has three (one hand me down from Jake and two that are his).

And Kathy is so wise...just look at Micah who the doctors are still not even discussing surgery about, in heart failure and on tons of meds...and not eating...then you have your sweet boy who is growing, eating and doing so well, all while satting so low and not even LOOKING BLUE!!! I see blue in Micah all the time and his sats are 96! I am ultra sensitive...I won't even dress him in blue b/c he looks too blue to me! Anyway, what I am trying to say, while rambling on and on is that you have one tough cookie on your hands...who likes chocolate cake!

Happy Birthday again!

Lots of love,
Samantha

Happy Birthday Elijah! I'm so sorry he isn't feeling like him self. As I was watching your slide I was thinking the same thing...how come he doesn't look blue? Not that I want him to but I remember Arianna when her sats where in the low 70's she looked like a smurf. Well maybe not that bad but she was blue. At look at him...he is eating and that says alot. I am so jealous..Arianna wouldn't even touch her birthday cake. But then again she would really touch anything else either. I am so glad to see such chub on Elijah, he does look good in those pictures.

Your doing the right thing about calling your doc tomorrow. Is there any way to move up his cath? I think these are signs that he needs to get his heart worked on and your cath isn't for another 4 weeks. But then again I'm the crazy mom who freaks out about everything.

You know what...I think your the only other heart mom I know that is a first time mom as well. We really do have alot in common. Well sweetie, hope you guys are getting some rest. I'll check back tomorrow.

We loved the birthday pics! Elijah is so cute and his curls will make the ladies swoon. Well, this lady, anyway. It looks like he liked his birthday cake much better than Wilson liked his!

I see from your more recent posts that you're on vacation -- we hope you're having a great time in Florida! Keep your spirits up and enjoy your R & R as you prepare for the big events ahead....

Love,
Amy, Mitch & Wilson
