Good news, bad news

Thank you, everyone, so much for reaching out to Ashley. I absolutely love the network of amazing people I have found through starting this blog. I don't know what I would possibly do without all of you!

Now, some news about our little one. The great news is that his little heart looks fantastic! They looked and looked and could not find a single concern. YAY!!! This is amazing, surreal, crazy, wonderful news.

The not-so-great news is that my contractions have intensified over the last few days so the doctor wanted to give me a thorough exam today. She was concerned enough to immediately put me on complete bed rest for a minimum of four weeks. Four weeks from now would be the earliest that they could possibly try to save the baby if I were to go into labor. So, it is vital that I do not go into labor until then.

This has me super duper bummed out for many reasons. I'm trying not to think too far down the road and to just focus on TODAY. So, what is bumming me out TODAY is that this is really going to affect my time with Elijah. I'm not going to be able to take him places or run around and play with him or eat dinner with him or really do much of anything. For at least the next four weeks I will be parenting him from the couch. :(

It could be worse, though. At least I am at home and at least the baby is doing well and at least I have an amazing husband who would do anything under the sun to keep his family safe and at least I can still SEE my spunky little boy. I will try to focus on these things and hopefully my contractions lessen and I can get off bed rest in four weeks.

We would really appreciate your prayers right now. And please continue to pray for Ashley and her little girl, as well! THANK YOU!

It IS hard to be on bed rest, but of course you have to do what's right for you and the little one! Elijah will have plenty of playtime with Mama later and I'm sure Dan will be a great help too. Right now you have to focus on taking care of yourself during this pregnancy. Prayers!

And thoughts and prayers for your friend too!

Get some good DVDs that you and Elijah can cuddle up in bed with and watch together. That's what I did with Chase when I was on bedrest pregnant with Paige. We also had some games we could play while laying down, lacing cards, etc. We'll be praying for you all!

Oh, Megan. Let me know if there is anything we can do, even if it's just to keep you company! Thanks for the update, sounds mostly good...but now do you have to give up the Ben and Jerry's diet? I THINK NOT!!

I'm so sorry to hear about the bed rest, but as long as that little one stays put and stays healthy then it's worth it!

I'll be praying with you. Have lots of Elijah cuddle time on the couch!

oh my goodness...
I am SO glad that Zooter's heart is perfect and he's nice and snuggie inside your tummy.
Sorry that you're confined to the bed...but, Elijah will just love bringing you everything you need and sitting with you.
You guys will be in my prayers.
love,
kathy

You are so in my prayers...rejoicing in the good news of his heart...saddened by your news of your bed rest! I just hope the weeks pass quickly and all stays well! I can't imagine...but you are a strong momma! So...what's on the top of your tv watching list?

I am such a slacker commenter...but know I am checking in...rejoicing with you...laughing with you and lovin' that little spunky boy of yours!

I agree with everyone else! The bed rest stinks, but at least everything is kosher! I'm sure Mr. Elijah will be a wonderful caretaker of his wonderful Momma! I can just picture him bringing you all sorts of things!

Definitely keeping you, Ashley & Baby in our prayers!

So sorry you're having to go through this. I love the idea of spending the next few weeks snuggling with Elijah. I know you think he'll miss all the running around, but just think how much he'll love having you right there with him to snuggle whenever he wants! And...you're so blessed to have such a sweet husband who will take wonderful care of you. You're so strong, Megan, and will get through this!!

Great news about the baby's heart, but a big OH NO on the bedrest! I remember how disappointed I was when I was pregnant and on bedrest and unable to enjoy the fall hiking season. Even worse when it prevents you from doing things with a sweet little boy. We'll continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers!
