15

There are a handful of reasons why I maintain this blog. One of them is for recording Elijah's medical issues, and the ease of looking back to see what has happened and when, if need be. So, it is for this reason only that I am writing to say that he has caught his fifteenth viral infection of the "winter." Lots of snot, even more coughing, more red eyes (even though we are still giving him eye drops from the last time..??) and a super fussy and tired and whiny boy.

I feel totally beaten down. Like I (well, Elijah, really) am lying on the ground just being flogged repeatedly. His recent speech worries, upcoming surgery and sickness after neverending sickness has me just weary.

Megan - 15 is a LOT. I am so sorry and can totally understand you feeling discouraged and tired. I will pray that God will bolster your spirits, give you joy and perseverance during these trials. One thing I've been learning is that God wants us to share ALL of our emotions ... not just our thankfulness, but our weariness too. What a good God! You are such a good mom and Elijah is so lucky to have you to take care of him. An extra heart hug for all of you from the Smith's!

I'm so sorry, Megan. I know you saw a dr. about his proneness to developing croup, but I hope you will find more answers as to why you little boy gets sick so much. Maybe a visit to an immunologist will help? I'll be praying for you, Dan, and Elijah.

Hi! I have no idea how I happened to find your blog. My daughter has heart problems and as I am searching for some answers, I have read tons of blogs! Anyway, she is about to turn 4. From the time she was 18 months to 2 yrs old, she went to the pediatrician 17 times and the ER 3 times for different illnesses (febrile seizures, croup, respiratory distress, ear infections, cold...you name it!) Her ped sent us to all kinds of specialists, immunologists, etc and the best they could come up with was she would outgrow it. I was frustrated, sad and TIRED and that answer was not satisfying....but guess what? He was right!! She is almost NEVER sick now (knock on wood)! I know every situation is different, but just wanted to give you some hope for the future! You guys seem like great parents through your blog and Elijah is blessed to have you (and vice versa!)
