14 hours and counting

The flirty face

His scar has faded so much you can hardly even see it anymore!

I thought I'd share some cute pics from tonight, right before the chubby man went to bed. We got PJs from the hospital today so we wouldn't have to change him in the morning. One less thing to worry about. We got some good snuggle time in and put him to bed early so he can rest up and hopefully kick the rest of the snot that is hanging out in his nose.

I am so thankful for all of the wonderful comments that were left for us today! It means more than you'll ever know! Thanks so much for checking in on our little man and for leaving words of encouragement for us.

I'm terrified about tomorrow but at the same time feel peace and excitement about having a baby with a heart that functions normally! I just cannot imagine!

Look at that tummy!!! What a chunky monkey!

We are thinking of you all. Grant's mom wanted to let you know that she has you on her church's prayer chain. You are all loved and supported through this. I can't wait for this summer's BBQ when our boys are playing catch together. What an awesome thing to look forward to.

Love you!

Hi guys,

I am so relieved for you that surgery is able to go on as scheduled. I think you just emotionally reach a point where you just need to move forward and get things that you are dreading over and done. Thank you for the pictures..he could not be any cuter!! What a little charmer! He looks so strong in the pictures....think of how great he will look with normal oxygen saturations and a fully functioning heart! We will see you guys this weekend. Please let us know if there is anything we can bring you. We will pray for you all every hour and be thinking of you constantly. We cannot wait to see Elijah again and give him lots of love and squeezes. We love you guys!

Look at that belly!!!
It's still hard to look at him and believe he's a heart baby...he just looks so good all the time (even when he's sick)!!! Get some good sleep tonight and you all will be in our prayers!
Love,
Kathy

OMG! I cannot believe that he is a heart baby...he never got the memo about the skinniness that comes with the territory...so, that is a good sign...he is NOT a follower and will pull through quickly!

He is so darn cute!

I am praying hard for you guys and I know that tomorrow will bring a great success!

I will be checking on you often...call me if you need anything at all...ANYTHING!!!

Lots of love,
Samantha

I am Colin Domanico's uncle (Godfather) and I just wanted to say we are thinking of your family as you head into difficult days. It is great to see the heart families out there supporting each other from across the country. I know Tim and Mel got a great deal of comfort hearing all of your stories and reading your well wishes. Best of luck to Elijah, we are a large family with enough prayers to send back your way.

How awesome is it...the amount of prayers being sent up to the ultimate healer in honor of Elijah all over the country! He is in wonderful hands...His almighty's and your excellent teams of docs.

We will definitely be checking in all day...keep us posted! Prayers for you as you endure the day...and through the next few days.

We love you all...

Do not be anxious about anything..but in eveything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God..which transcends all understanding, will guard your heats and your minds in Christ Jesus! Phil. 4:7

Alright! The big day! I was thinking about E and his surgery the whole time I was running yesterday, and some pharse I've heard before about "God stands in the gaps" kept coming to me. Makes me think that if there is ever a difference between our needs and our/other people's abilities to meet them, that God fills in the extra. And God's ears are going to be ringing with prayers for Elijah today! You're on the Wooddale prayer chain and up in GR at a few churches so be as brave as you can be, and God will fill in the rest. I love you all and will see you soon!!

What an adorable little guy! Those curls.... oh my goodness!!!

Andy and Krista are friends of mine, and I found your blog via hers. Just want you to know that there is a woman in New York lifting up your little guy in prayer today. Praying that God sustains you through each moment as well!

Hi Megan and Dan.

While in the hospital I was given this poem which I had heard over and over again, but it was nice to read it again. Just remember that you are all being carried through this right now.

Lots and lots of prayers being said for you all.

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,

“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”

The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”
