I lost the bet!

We are on for surgery tomorrow! Dr. Gremmels didn't seem super concerned about the congested nose. He said it might cause Elijah to be intubated a few days longer than usual, but he doesn't want to put off surgery much longer. His heart is screaming to be fixed! His sats were at 49-53% today. Yikes.

He has been such an amazingly good boy today. Even when he had to get blood drawn, he was so strong and brave and only cried when the needle was in his arm. He flirted like crazy with Dr. G and everyone else we saw and he had everyone giggling. Aside from the congested nose, he appears to be feeling pretty good today. He's almost back to his usual giggly, silly self.

We'll get to the hospital at 6:00 tomorrow morning and surgery starts at 7:30. Dr. G expects a 5-6-hour surgery. Dr. Moga will be replacing his shunt with a valve and he'll be fixing the hole and possibly doing some work to some arteries if needed. Expected recovery time is two weeks in the hospital.

Please PRAY for our boy and for Dr. Moga to be at his very best tomorrow. Thank you so much! We will write updates throughout the day.

DEEP breath, ug, here we go!

Wendy, Emma's mom sent me your way. My son also has ToF, and has had his full repair. I'll be thinking of your little Elijah tomorrow, and hoping that all goes well with his surgery. He is a real cutie. When I can get a chance I'd like to come back and read more about him, and will add your blog to the list of those I am following.

I have been following Eljah's blog every day and I have been praying for your son as well as all of the heart babies. They are all fighters and have very strong families and lots of support from many caring people on these blogs. So glad it was not postponed as it looks like he needs the surgery. Prayers and strength to you all.

Good news! Prayers will go out for all involved in Elijah's surgery tomorrow. Dr. Moga, for steady hands. Strength and rest for mom and dad. Rest and strength for Elijah's mind, body, and soul. Most of all, the ICU nurses. That nurse you get right after surgery has an amazing and tough job balancing all of the bodily functions. Elijah is going to be well before long. Get some rest and god bless you all tomorrow.

Hi,
I found you guys through Ehlan, and have been keeping up for a while. I'm glad surgery is staying on as scheduled, and I KNOW that Elijah will do great!

Thinking of you and especially tomorrow and the days of recovery after. It is never easy, even after 5 open hearts and a 22-year-old heart child. Elijah will be fine and you need to sleep/eat so you can get through this!

Meg, Dan and Eli,
You are in our thoughts and prayers this week. I wanted to share with you one of my favorite songs. When I hear this song, I think about the sweet little ones in my life and I feel so blessed to be a part of theirs. It's perfect for Eli.

Godspeed - Dixie Chicks
Dragon tales and the "water is wide"
Pirate's sail and lost boys fly
Fish bite moonbeams every night
And I love you

The rocket racer's all tuckered out
Superman's in pajamas on the couch
Goodnight moon, we'll find the mouse
And I love you

God bless mommy and match box cars
God bless dad and thanks for the stars
God heard "Amen," wherever you are
And I love you

Godspeed, little man
Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
Godspeed
Sweet dreams

Love and Hugs,
Tammy & Doug (Dexter too!)
